Gua Sha Fa

This method is performed by rubbing a smooth-edged instrument (traditionaly made of jade or buffalo horn) in 10-15cm length strokes over the muscles, tissues or along the meridian lines.

Depending on the indications the effect of this method can be enhanced by applying heat to the treated area. We recommend the use of a heated mud pack (Fango). The whole treatment lasts for approximately 30-45 minutes.

Background

The term Gua Sha Fa is also known as a „scraping“ or „coining“ method and finds its roots in the traditional chinese medicine. It is a technique commonly used in both traditional medicine and hospitals.

The first contact with Gua Shua therapy usualy leaves the skin with typical red rubbing marks. These appearances deminish after latest 4 to 5 days. After a few sessions the discoloration decreases, the detoxification process starts and the energy flow becomes more balanced and harmonised.

Important!

Acute injuries, blood clotting disorders, sunburn, prengnancy, eczema, or a high amount of large moles or other skin conditions are all contraindications for the Gua Sha treatment.
